NEWS & INFO

FEBRUARY 2024

What's new? To me it feels to me like everything is. There's a shift in the air that promises spring, the first intrepid snowdrops confirm my suspicion. My partner tells me that the 1st February is an old Saint's Day, heralding the earliest turning point, midway between the winter solstice and spring equinox. I'm not surprised, something in me already knows this.

An air of haste is new to me too. I'm flying on the edge of my seat - mostly that is the seat of a train - and it feels so very different to when I started up my business during spring of 2020, which was of course the longest and quietest time. To balance it all out a little bit, I'm rerunning a few old classes along side the new. I'm also settling into a new working routine, at the studio just on Mondays and Fridays. I'm trusting that those lazy days of warmth, strawberries, and humming bees will be here soon.

What's going on with my MA Children's book Illustration course?

I'm now 1/5th through my MA and amazed by the way my work and understanding is already changing. The first term focused on observational drawing and experimental materials so I spent much time with my sketchbook on very cold benches
